About Joseph McQuerry
Kentucky-based Joseph McQuerry is an experienced professional whose leadership skills and analytical thinking are sought after in diverse industries and disciplines. He served our country for over a decade in the Marine Corps and worked as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before entering the private sector. His experience, communication skills, problem analysis and solutions, and adaptability in adverse situations have shaped his diverse skills.
A Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps
During his time with the Marines, McQuerry was meritoriously promoted, going from recruit to Staff Sergeant in Counterintelligence/Human Intelligence. He served as an instructor and military liaison for the Military Intelligence Basic Officer’s Course in Abuja, Nigeria.
As a Staff Sergeant in the Marines, his responsibilities included planning, coordinating, and commanding hundreds of mobile combat patrols in support of counter-insurgency and counter-IED operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He led four heavily armed Humvees, conducting sweep operations on main supply routes.
McQuerry also managed twelve marines’ daily duties and well-being in combat conditions. He was accountable for maintaining millions of dollars of government equipment, including military personnel, vehicles, weapon systems, communications equipment, and advanced electronic jamming equipment.
While in the U.S. Marine Corps, he had advanced training in intelligence analysis, interpersonal communications, Microsoft Excel functions, project research, and problem-solving.
McQuerry’s Work as a Special Agent for the FBI
Joseph McQuerry’s military intelligence experience brought him to the FBI as a Special Agent, where he worked for two years. In his new role, he organized, analyzed, and expanded six Federal Investigations into over 12-plus Counterintelligence Investigations within a year. He was responsible for collecting, analyzing, and producing intelligence reports for distribution to international law enforcement agencies and the intelligence community.
He gained experience in case management, research, finding complex problems and their solutions, and analyzing large amounts of data into intelligible reports for dissemination. He provided advanced training in Counterintelligence and Investigative analysis using a variety of programs, including Microsoft Excel. He also provided advanced training in interpersonal communication and spotting deception.
In 2013, McQuerry was Screener Team Lead and Military Contractor, Mission Essential Personnel, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He supervised the duties of 12 Counterintelligence Screeners, including overseeing training and performance standards, setting daily schedules, and reviewing assessment reports.
His Work in the Private Sector
McQuerry honed his skills in the private sector after working in the military and with the FBI. He has held various positions, including a District Account Sales Manager for ADT, where he was responsible for sales in the District in the Louisville, Kentucky area and providing best-in-class service to existing and new ADT customers.
Following his work at ADT, McQuerry entered the insurance industry. He became a licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent, working for Local Choice Insurance in Louisville. He met and exceeded sales goals and provided excellent client servicing.
He later worked as a Subrogation Recovery Analyst for the Rawlings Group in La Grange, Kentucky, where he investigated whether subrogation files were recoverable or not. This involved regularly negotiating with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and members regarding potential recoveries. In this role, McQuerry developed skills in reviewing and analyzing health plan contracts regarding individual state and federal laws regarding the right to recovery.
His insurance experience also included a Property & Casualty Claims Analyst position for Equian in Louisville. He investigated the valid theory of loss for complex worker’s compensation claims and routinely handled a caseload of hundreds of files. His effective communication skills served Equian well as he worked with law firms, insurance companies, employers, and injured workers.
Managing Disability Cases for the Commonwealth of Kentucky/Social Security Administration
McQuerry’s most recent position was with the Commonwealth of Kentucky/Social Security Administration with the Disability Determination Services. He was approved for Federal Background Security Checks. At the Commonwealth, he learned the Social Security Administration program, Title II, and Title IV, and effectively managed disability claims, including determining eligibility for disability benefits and case processing.
His Academic Accomplishments
McQuerry attended and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond while he was in the Marines.
He also attended Bellarmine University in Louisville, where he obtained an Executive Master’s in Business Administration.
Always seeking higher education, McQuerry also studied political science at the University of Louisville and took courses in estate planning, business law, finance, and insurance at Kentucky University.
He also holds a real estate license.
On the Personal Side
Joseph McQuerry enjoys helping others in need and has recently given his life to Christ. He would like to create a nonprofit to help veterans, the homeless, and underprivileged children. His vision includes placing service dogs with veterans. He has a five-year-old German shepherd service dog.
His hobbies include traveling, hiking, golfing, swimming, exercising, and riding motorcycles. He is also devoted to studying biblical history.
